In the Davis Cup’s history, there has never been a match between India and Norway.

India is one of the top 25 seeds in the World Group I play-offs, while Norway possesses Casper Ruud, the world’s eighth-ranked player, who lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the US Open final.

India defeated Denmark to move forward, but Norway lost to Kazakhstan in the qualifying round and was demoted to World Group I.

In a special chat with NNIS Sports former Indian Davis Cup player and current captain of Indian Billie Jean King Cup team Vishal Uppal said “Well I think to be fair we really need to concentrate on beating their no.2 player (Casper Ruud), we have to beat two other, we have to win doubles tie and clearly because the form Casper Ruud is having I don’t see any of our guys beating him. As a team we can beat them and we can really focus on their no.2 player (Casper Ruud). So I think it’s a very important tie for India.”
